Electrotherapy Treatment Room

Electrotherapy is a group of physiotherapy methods that use different forms of electrical current or electrical stimulation for therapeutic purposes. It is commonly used as part of combined treatment or rehabilitation to help reduce pain, stimulate muscle function, and support tissue recovery in selected conditions.

The type of method, duration, and treatment course should be selected by a specialist based on the diagnosis, overall health, and possible contraindications.

  • muscle or joint pain when physiotherapy is part of the treatment plan
  • the need for rehabilitation after an injury or surgery
  • the need to stimulate muscle function in certain neuromuscular conditions
  • chronic pain conditions when physiotherapy is indicated by a doctor

Electrotherapy is not a diagnostic test. Medical assessment and a clear diagnosis are needed before treatment. The specialist determines whether the method is appropriate, selects the suitable mode, and evaluates possible contraindications.

This information is general and does not replace an individual consultation with a doctor.
