Gynecology

Gynecology focuses on maintaining the health of the female reproductive system, preventive examinations, evaluation of symptoms, and the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological conditions. Regular medical checkups are important even when there are no significant symptoms.

During a gynecology consultation, the doctor reviews symptoms, the menstrual cycle, previous illnesses, and other health factors, then performs an examination when appropriate and selects suitable diagnostic methods.

  • lower abdominal or pelvic pain
  • irregular menstrual cycles or markedly painful periods
  • unusual or intermenstrual bleeding
  • unusual discharge, itching, burning, or discomfort
  • pain during sexual intercourse
  • questions about preventive examinations or reproductive health

Evaluation may include a gynecological examination, laboratory tests, cytology, and pelvic ultrasound. Additional tests are selected by the doctor based on age, symptoms, and examination findings.

This information is general and does not replace an individual consultation with a doctor.
